How to use the HKQuickForm Hong Kong racing analysis
The HKQuickForm guide was created to help make Hong Kong racing analysis bettors more informed. The aim is to provide a quick overview of a race, focusing on vertical (whole field) factors. A ready reckoner for comparing horses across some key metrics. The HKQuickForm guide will have periodic new additions and eventually a software tool for rating races will be released.

An important note about the HKQuickForm guide
The HKQuickForm guide was designed to be a starting point for your form analysis. Used in conjunction with the runner comments and horizontal (runner form) analysis, punters should be able to develop a good picture of each race.
Some of the main features are described below. Download the sample above to see the other features that are included every race, every meeting.

Career, Course, Jockey Horse and Class Strike Rates

Perhaps the two most instructive elements are the jockey/horse association and the class table.
The class table shows strike rates for today's race class and is often a good place to start your analysis. It is particularly revealing for horses stepping up or down in class. When all runners have exposed form in the class it is very useful to use these ranks. In future will be adding a head-to-head analysis to the reports.
The jockey horse association is particularly useful when a jockey is climbing back aboard and old favourite, generally indicating a good run is expected.

Black book

The black book flags horses that have displayed good late speed in a recent run. This item is most useful when looking for value runners or for prompting you to take another look at the horse's form or review the video.
Full reports on the performance of black book runners will be made soon. Suffice to say the market usually finds them (not always) and they place at a good rate.
Anti-trend

What is an anti-trend report?
In the post meeting analysis, the database searches for horses that have run against the pace and position in running pattern of the race.
The anti-trend query also takes account of a horse's starting price. Golden Sixty might win on a dynamite leaders' track by swooping, this would be due to his inherent class superiority and would not be considered an anti-trend run.
Generally speaking, the anti-trend report is looking for horses not favoured in the market that defy the race or meeting pattern for horses that made the frame. This might include:
horses that have closed late against a leader or rail bias when most of top finishers were on pace.
on pacers and leaders that have made the frame despite a distinct pattern that favours closers or swoopers making the frame.
Peak Ratings Charts

Only the very best racehorses rate consistently race after race. Most have patterns that, when examined graphically, can be very hard to interpret. The PEAK RATINGS GRAPH takes the horses best rating each prep and plots it against the other runners' peak ratings. The figure to the far right is the most recent prep. At the time of writing, 12/1/2024, this race has not been run. It is apparent from the graph that Beauty Crescent consistently out rates this field. As you would expect, Beauty Crescent, being the best performed horse has to give weight (5 pounds minimum) to the entire field.
An extensive analysis of Hong Kong racing revealed that most horses suffer a decline in performance after a break of 35 days or longer. As such this is the designated break to determine when one prep ends and another begins. The graphic below is from our in-house software and you can see the preps clearly highlighted.

Key Race Form

Another exciting tool incorporated into the HKQuickForm report for members is the key race form table. It is basically a summary of the quality of the form in past races the horses have raced in. This table is often a guide to longshot winners. Sometimes running sixth in a strong race is a much better guide than winning a weak race. That's where the key race form table comes in!
Speed Rankings versus Today's Field
Compare early late and overall speed versus the field averages for the course and distance. A minus figure in green means the horse is FASTER than the field average for that metric.
